Scottish Barista Academy Latte Art
Course Duration: 1 Day – 10.00am to 2.30pm
Latte Art is one of our most popular courses.
The attractive patterns formed with the coffees creme and textured milk used to be thought just possible when poured by the best Italian baristas but times have changed and it’s now most definitely a requirement in any good coffee establishment.
Who is the course for?
It is best if you have the basic barista skills to make the most of the day.
Domestic espresso machines tend to lack the power to produce good latte art but perhaps the most important aspect is having the ability to produce a good coffee extraction with good crema, the best way is to think of the crema as your canvas and the milk your paint.
On this course you will be shown how to produce the perfect espresso.
A day in detail
The science of milk. A quick look at the other ingredient.
From many years of experience we will hopefully dispel many of the common myths that baristas believe about milk. Using science to best explain the best techniques to foam and texture for great microfoam two essentials to pouring any latte art pattern, secrets to pouring latte art.

“I recently attended Jim’s school to cover the foundation in Sensory, Brewing and Barista. I have to say that Jim’s passion for his art and skills are second to none. Over the three days, I became totally absorbed and gained a wealth of knowledge both theoretical and practical.
I have much more to learn of course but I feel I can now move forward in achieving my personal goal of setting up my own speciality coffee shop. Of course, and it’s reassuring to know, Jim is there to support whenever its required.
Thank you Jim!”
