– COFFEE BREWING & GRINDING COURSE –
In our Coffee Brewing and Grinding Course, we teach you the art and science of brewing and grinding. Coffee is a bean, like so many others, but by a process it becomes the almost magical drink that so many of us love. The name itself comes from the Arabic meaning wine of the bean.
There is an art form in every cup of well brewed coffee, from selecting the beans, to grinding to the correct size and then brewing to extract the flavours. SCA Intermediate Brewing and Grinding Course is the natural step towards producing a great cup of coffee every time once completing the Foundation level course.
Making a great cup of coffee is an art, but there is so much science behind the brewing and grinding that a barista has to know. The SCA Professional Brewing and Grinding Course looks not only at how to brew and grind the perfect cup of coffee but also at the science in the cup.

TESTIMONIALS
”Thank you for your terrific support for the Blue Fax Tea Room over the years of its operation. We have greatly benefited from your careful training and outstanding products. Roy and Lorraine have run this successful business for 4 years. We had hoped it would continue under new ownership but this has not been possible. We will be retiring later this month and as such, our last full day of trading will be on Sunday 25th February 2018 from 10am – 4pm. If we are able to find that elusive buyer in the near future, we will be strongly recommending that they reactivate your services for their business. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in running this business and wish you and your customers all the very best for the future.

One of the most hands on and practical courses we offer the course looks at the roasting and brewing of a cup in great depth, before moving on to look at the pH and how this can impact on the taste, the acids that are present in coffee that affect the taste, how the hardness of the water you use will change the flavour and the science of the other ingredients, including how the lipid content in the milk can change the taste and the body of the drink. How does temperature change the taste of the drink, and how to chart the changes that all the various factors can have on producing the perfect cup of coffee are just some parts of this intensive and rewarding course.

TESTIMONIALS
“When I decided that I would pursue my dream of starting a coffee shop, I searched for a barista school in Scotland since that was where I would be starting up. I received a call from Jim within hours of sending the email enquiry. We instantly connected and I made an appointment to meet him at the School. Jim has high standards and expects the same from his students. The biggest reward is the more effort I put in, Jim gives the support, advice and effort right back. I have gained a mentor and a friend and I will forever be thankful for his advice and indebted to him for the success and popularity of the coffee I make each day.”
